Winter cleaning at the site
As you have already seen, I am working on a complete redesign of the site. I have recreated this blog and put it as a sub page of the original henriksoderlund.com site which will become much more promotion oriented. I will create pages to promote and share my work as musician and photographer and they will show up first as you navigate to my root page. From there will be a link, just like there is now, to this blog where you will be able to continue reading about news and my future plans. If you have any suggestions how you’d like to see the page develop, drop me a comment on this post. I will try to coordinate all this in between the Los Angeles preparations. Stay tuned!
New portrait makeover added
Added a new photo makeover to the Before/After gallery. Got an assignment to make some high resolution portraits of a friend of mine for his orchestra’s annual program. Shows some Photoshop techniques and how you can improve your portrait shots.
Updated the blog software today that runs all these posts. Hopefully it can help speed up the site and add some safety. I had some troubles with spam which I now hope will disappear.
Reorganization
I have divided my normal photo albums and the Photoshop Before/After albums. The new gallery for those Photoshop interested ones can be found on top of the page under Before/After Gallery. The other images from before are still to be found in the old Photo Gallery.
And… I have added one more album in the Before/After section. Please enjoy!
Some enhancements to the site
Finally I feel more or less finished with the transition to the new photo gallery. The entire site should now be MUCH faster then it has been before. That is an improvement for sure. The photo gallery link is to be found as usual on the top of the page - above the title image - but clicking on the pictures in the posts will not work anymore. So remember that link on top to reach the photos. I added some captions and descriptions to most of the photos and made the slideshow experience somewhat better, I even added some sound effects!

Downtime issue resolved
So, Some of you might have noticed a couple of hours downtime today. I managed to delete the contents of the database that runs this website. Great work Henrik 
. My lovely ISP managed to retrieve a backup made this early morning which contained everything. So after restoring that backup we are up and running again. Wonderful! Thanks Peter at Scorpiondata - a web hotel that give you loads of webspace, loads of nice support and a great hosting experience. I totally recommend them (btw, if you create an account there, which is very cheap, make sure to mention my customer number 790 to give me a free 6 months hosting. Thanks!
Give me advise!
Since both you guys an myself are getting more than tired of the speed issues of my site, I have been trying out hundreds of solutions to improve this issue. I have found a solution that will include switching photo album application. The one I have been trying out is working differently and will hopefully improve the speeds. It will for sure bring a much smoother photo viewing experience. Have a look on my testing page and let me know pros/cons and I’ll update the entire gallery if you are all happy. Thanks!
The new Flash Photo Gallery beta!
Friendly URLs by accident
I am still working on the speed of the site. It still seems to suffer heavy delays sometimes when loading. Trying to figure out how to get this better I stumbled upon friendly URLs. Before all the addresses to the different places on the site had crazy names, unreadable actually. Well, the new Gallery and WordPress I installed seems to have better support for this, and I got that to work immedeately. So, now enjoy some easier addresses in the address field.
Upgraded the entire site
Just trying out how it all works. In an attempt to make the site a bit faster I today upgraded the web applications of this site to newer versions. Though I am still trying to work out a solution with my web host,� I hope it will make things a bit snappier. Now I'm running WordPress version 2.0.2 and Gallery 2.1RC1 on this site. I'm still working on the estaestics and having plans on adding a personal page with a bio and picture of myself.
RSS feeds added
I have added a RSS feed link in the right sidebar on top (the little one in color) for those of you who use news readers. If you choose to subscribe to my site, your news reader will automatically tell you whenever I update my site with new info. Most web sites today have this feature, and if you have some favorite sites you check every day for new information, you could as well have a news reader instead that directly shows you what is new and what is old. I think it is excellent. Personally I subscribe to some digital photography sites like DP review and Rob Galbraith. To read more about RSS, please check out What is RSS?
There are loads of different news readers for both PC and MAC that are free, and some web browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari have built in support for news feeds. If you cannot get the link to work properly with your news reader you might have to copy this following link and paste it into your newsreader (I know Opera and the Firefox plugins work this way): http://www.henriksoderlund.com/?feed=rss2
New, fresh site!
Hello… after some time of idleness on the site, I decided to change it a bit. I have now integrated the photo gallery INTO the wordpress blog in which you are reading these posts. It will be much cleaner and easier to use. Hopefully… Well, at the time writing this, The new gallery is trying to migrate the pictures from before, so that we can view them hopefully tomorrow. Some new posts will be coming as well, trying to document the Rotterdam skylines, harbours and other things I have here around… That’s it for now, time to sleep for me after hours of working… Over and out…
